Grades 6-8 Co-Taught Classes

The 2017-2018 school year is off to a great start in Mrs. Langford’s 6-8 co-taught classes!  With a new school year comes new friends and new routines… and a lot of fun while learning.  The students are active in the classrooms and are challenged as critical thinkers and problem solvers.

In Mrs. Goodwin’s social studies class, while studying maps, we used playdough to represent mountains and show ELEVATION.   We are looking at different types of maps and finding locations using LATITUDE and LONGITUDE.

Miss Merriman’s math class started off with lots of hands-on learning!   We’ve been talking about ABSOLUTE VALUE and working in groups exploring the rules for adding and subtracting INTEGERS.

English class with Ms. Kring has us wondering about our new book, WONDER by R.J. Palacio.  We’ve been talking a lot about choosing KIND and encouraging others to do the same.  This book really gets us thinking about how being different isn’t a bad thing at all.  We know the movie is coming out soon so most of us are hoping to be able to see that once we’ve finished the book.

Science class with Mrs. Lener is awesome!  We have been doing labs and learning all about MATTER.  We’ve found the density of film canisters when floating and suspending in water.  Mrs. Lener collected lots of fungus so we took a break from physical science to do a living science lab observing and classifying the fungus.
