Handmade Bowls Donated to "Empty Bowls" Fundraiser

McGraw’s “Studio in Art” and “Ceramics” students generously donated 30 hand-made clay bowls to the “Empty Bowls Fundraiser”.  This annual event was held Sat., Oct. 20th from 6pm – 10pm at the Center of the Arts of Homer.  It was the13th year that the Cortland Loaves and Fishes held this event.

The theme of the dinner is to raise awareness of hunger, both locally and worldwide.  A simple soup and salad dinner was provided with soups donated by local restaurants and individuals.  Participants were able to pick out and keep a handmade bowl created by local artists, teachers, and students.  Pottery, all of which is donated by local artists, is also given as door prizes and auctioned during the event. Students had fun creating their beautiful and colorful pieces of pottery for this important cause.
