Fire & Chemical Reactions

Mr. D'Antonio's Friday project based learning activity revolved around FIRE!  Students in grades 3-5 held small group discussions and researched about what a chemical reaction is.  Then students went outside and created small flames which were extinguished when vinegar and baking soda surrounded the flame.  WHY?
