Third, fourth, and fifth graders had a visit from a cardiac surgery nurse! Mr. David came from Strong Hospital in Rochester, NY, to teach the students all about cardiac surgery. They learned about what the heart does, what nurses do in the operating room, sterility, and saw some cool pictures and videos! Then students got the chance to practice being cardiac surgery nurses. They practiced “scrubbing in” for surgery and doing surgery on Cheerios!
